Desert Magick Superstitions Volume 1 Dana Davis 9780744321241 Books

A good beginning to this paranormal fantasy/romance series about a witch named Daisy. She lives in Scottsdale, AZ with her husband Noah and her dog Perky and scours auctions and estate sales for vintage and gently used items to sell at auction. In this book she has started to have very strange dreams about being assaulted by a faceless man - dreams that start erotic but always end in pain. Her cousin Bridgette shows up, saying she had fled the country for almost a year to get away from a siren who had trapped her with his magick, and the arrival of Bridgette helps Daisy learn that she is being attacked by an ancient, very powerful, evil entity. Can she find a way to defeat the skinwalker, or will he be able to take her soul?

I enjoyed this book - it was an easy and quick read, and although some of the sex scenes seemed a little gratuitous, at least they weren't overly explicit. I enjoyed learning about the paranormal world that Ms. Davis has created and its history, which is nicely done. There are two more books in this series at this time - which are "Dreamcatcher" and "Day of the Dead." I highly recommend these books for anyone who enjoys paranormal and/or urban fantasy, especially with a touch of romance and strong heroines.

Desert Magick Superstitions Volume 1 Dana Davis 9780744321241 Books Reviews

I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait to read the next. It had me right away. The character are great and since I've been to many of the places in the book and live in the area ( Maricopa County) made it even more enjoyable. Great fantasy read!
A definite page turner! Superb character development with highly detailed scenes. A terrific series that will capture the imagination and keep you engaged through every page. I have read other books by Dana Davis, and she never disappoints.
In DESERT MAGICKSUPERSTITIONS Daisy leads a normal enough life, except for one thing. She’s a witch, more specifically an inherent witch. But her husband’s not a witch. They have a great and passionate marriage. The conflict occurs because a mysterious, invisible spirit wants to force himself sexually on Daisy. The attacks grow more aggressive, so Daisy and her husband and Daisy’s cousin try to conjure up some magic, or “magick,” to fight the evil spirit. It’s a fun read set against the backdrop of the deserts and mountains of Arizona. I really enjoyed it.
Daisy is a witch with both feet in the mortal world. She lives in suburban Phoenix, sells antiques online, and is madly in love with her sexy husband. She only uses her magic to warm up the swimming pool occasionally, or hurry the tea kettle along. In fact, her life is perfect -- until an unwelcome spectral visitor intrudes. Daisy knows this apparition means very real danger, not only for her, but for everyone she loves. She has no choice but to charge headfirst into the realm of the supernatural -- even if it means conjuring up relatives she'd prefer to keep dead.

Fortunately, this witch has been well-schooled. She is comfortable with an array of potent spells and is not afraid to use them! Along with her husband and a sultry, wise-cracking cousin, she sets out to make her world "normal" again. Warning There is an action-packed ending that will have you turning pages well into the bewitching hour.

Desert Magick is the first in a series of books by Dana Davis which focus on paranormals who practice their arts beneath the Arizona sky.
As a new reader to Dana's work, I wanted to start with something she wrote early on and continue to what she had more recent to see how much she grows as a writer. As a writer myself, I know that it takes a lot of hard work to make it in this business of writing and I think Dana has done a great job thus far. Excellent book and I look forward to reading more.
Many books just don't tell a good story. This book is the exception. Very enjoyable read with realistic and memorable characters. I'm ordering the next book in the series and cannot wait.
Not my usual choice of book, which is usually sci-fi, but it was a very enjoyable read! I may just have to pursue the series.
